Independent MP Bill Casey calls on all Parliamentarians to deliver better government to Canadians  

"Harper Conservatives have failed Canadians at this time of economic crisis"

Ottawa –  Independent Member of Parliament Bill Casey confirmed today that Stephen Harper’s Conservative minority government failed Canadians with the recent Economic Statement delivered to the House of Commons. 

      Casey will vote non-confidence in the government when the vote on the Economic Statement comes to the House of Commons. 

      “At this critical time of economic crisis, Stephen Harper has failed Canadians as Prime Minister,” said Mr. Casey.  “Rather than providing leadership and a badly needed economic stimulus package, Mr. Harper and his Finance Minister Jim Flaherty opted instead to play partisan politics and for some reason, attack unions and women’s rights.”

      “In my own riding offices, like all riding offices across the country, individuals and small business owners are looking to government for direction and assistance during these times of economic turmoil.  Canadians, including individuals, families, big and small businesses alike deserve better,” said Casey.  

      “And once again, Mr. Harper failed my home province of Nova Scotia in the Economic Statement with greater confusion on the equalization payments and the broken Atlantic Accord.” 

      “We are at this point because for two years, Mr. Harper has disrespected the role of opposition parties, traditions, laws, MPs and Parliament,” concluded Casey.
